The modern city Nagpur was created in 1702 AD by Gond King Bakhat Buland Shah by bringing together 12 wadis called Rajapur-Barsa. Government of Maharashtra therefore celebrated the Tercentenary of Nagpur in 2002.
Nagpur is the second capital of Maharashtra. It is uniquely situated in the geographical center of India.
